OAKLAND, CA — Today, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) released the following statement on the end of the legislative session.
Statement from Mary Creasman, Chief Executive Officer, California Environmental Voters:
“Key pieces of legislation like AB 3233 (Addis), AB 2875 (Friedman), AB 2716 (Bryan), AB 2513 (Pellerin), AB 1866 (Hart, Smallwood-Cuevas), SB 219 (Wiener, Stern), and SB 1221 (Min) are paving the way for healthy, sustainable, and thriving communities. We’re closing session with Prop 4 on the ballot, a historic investment in clean and safe drinking water, catastrophic wildfire mitigation, drought resilience, urban cooling, and clean energy will protect Californians now and in the future.
These successes aren’t just wins on paper — they represent real, tangible steps towards improving people’s lives. We’re grateful to the tenacious and resilient authors of these bills, and to the Speaker, Pro Tem and their leadership teams for their commitment and hard work to get these bills across the finish line. It’s been a rollercoaster few weeks, with millions spent by the oil and gas industry to defeat these bills. We are proud that California’s commitment to the health and well-being of our communities wins out once again.
At the same time, these common-sense policies shouldn’t require such a heavy lift in a state where 64% of voters want their leaders to prioritize clean energy and resilience. The fact that a majority of legislators still take direct money from Big Oil is holding our state back. The overwhelming sentiment from voters up and down the state is clear — Californians want leaders who will stand up to corporate polluters and take bold action to protect our future.
This November, voters have a critical opportunity to send more leaders to Sacramento and D.C who will prioritize people over corporate polluters. The decisions we make in the upcoming election will determine our future.”

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
