CLCV Statement on Obama’s Expansion of California Coastal National Monument
Oakland, CA – In response to President Obama’s expansion of the California Coastal National Monument, California League of Conservation Voters CEO Sarah Rose issued the following statement:
“The expansion of the California Coastal National Monument is great news for our state. Our coast belongs to all Californians and preserving its scenic beauty and biodiversity is crucial for California’s climate and economic future. We thank President Obama for his conservation leadership, and all the local stakeholders and elected officials who made this expansion possible.
With the new presidential administration about to take office, it is crucial we act to make certain our magnificent landscapes and wildlife continue to belong to all of us now, and for generations to come.”
ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
