As I write this note, I’m about to head to the airport to board a cross country flight for Washington, DC as California’s newest member of Congress. And I couldn’t have done it without you!
Back before the June primary, California League of Conservation Voters was the very first environmental organization to give me their endorsement. Your early support sent a powerful message to the political and environmental communities about the viability of my campaign and helped me build crucial early momentum in a crowded field.
When my opponents tried to distort my environmental record, you quickly responded to these unfounded accusations and set the record straight. CLCV’s quick response and deep partnership helped me move past these attacks and elevate our shared clean energy vision in this campaign.
My opponents could outspend me but CLCV helped me identify early donors and supporters to help build and grow our grassroots campaign, and provided me with the early resources I needed to have a fighting chance.
As I head to DC to be your voice in Congress, to speak up for our shared values as Californians, and to fight for a clean energy future, I take this role very seriously. Though we successfully took back the House for a pro-environmental majority, the Trump Administration and his allies are already making their next moves against our hard won environmental protections.
We need to continue to stand together to lead the resistance to this Administration and the politics of pollution. We will make them know that a clean energy future isn’t just a better way but the only way to keep our country moving forward!
I got the chance to know many CLCV members over the course of this campaign and am grateful for every door knocked, for every phone called, and for every donation made. We have our work cut out for us, but I know that together we can fight and win.
