Big Oil's Big Lie

I was going to sit down and write a post about Big Oil’s deceptive campaign attacks against Henry Stern, but then I came across a letter to the editors of the Ventura County Star by Bette Empol of Oak Park. She sums it up better than I could have hoped to. Here’s what Bette wrote:

Preserve a legacy

I was appalled to see a mailer that suggested Henry Stern traveled to Peru at the taxpayer’s expense. The truth is Henry was in Peru to represent California in talks with other forestry nation-states before the U.N. climate summit in Paris last year. There were no llamas or limos, and he was not on the “taxpayer’s dime.”

Henry is under attack from super PACs and Realtors because he’s going to carry on state Sen. Fran Pavley’s legacy of defending the environment, clean air and water, and open space. These PACs funding Janice Kamenir-Reznik are a desperate measure in support of a desperate candidate who lacks the experience that Henry Stern has in Sacramento.

Henry is being supported by the Sierra Club, the California League of Conservation Voters and the Humane Society. I am supporting Henry Stern because I have met with him many times in the past 18 months regarding education legislation and funding. He is knowledgeable about all issues that face Californians, and those of us in Senate District 27.

Vote for Henry Stern on June 7 and help preserve the wonderful legacy Fran Pavley has achieved.
